What Causes Adult Acne

Acne is usually associated with teenagers, when in fact, people of all ages may be affected by it. Many adults from the age of 25 to 35 and even older may suffer from acne breakouts. Adult acne is often caused by daily stress. Starting and stopping oral contraceptives can also be a culprit. Hormonal changes, which occur in adults, also affect the skin. In addition, varying levels of testosterone and estrogen for both men and women can cause adult acne breakouts.

Any adult can suffer acne, at any age. In addition, adults find it harder to cope with acne than teenagers. Roughly, one-fourth of adult males and half of adult females experience acne.
