Q: How do I keep from getting crystals in my ice cream? Try putting plastic wrap close to the surface of the ice cream when putting the uneaten portion back in the freezer, also avoid letting it melt at all when dishing it out. There are always ice crystals in ice cream. Nevertheless, the crystals are very small when it is made at the dairy. If it melts and refreezes the new ice crystals will often be large and irregular causing a gritty taste.

July is national Ice Cream Month.

Weird Al Yankovic wrote a parody of "I Love Rock and Roll" called "I Love Rocky Road". It is a great anthem for Rocky Road ice cream lovers everywhere.

"I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream" are actually part of the lyrics to a classic college song originally published in 1928. It evidently took three writers to create the lyrics, Howard Johnson, Billy Moll, Robert A. K. King.1
