Green Beans with Oregano
A great way to spice up a bare vegetable is to add a bit of herb and some lemon juice. Green beans can be rather bland. A bit of flavor will take the temptation to apply butter and salt to the plate and create an unexpected flair at mealtime.
Ingredients:
1 lb fresh green beans
2 tablespoons olive oil
3 cloves garlic, crushed
3/4 teaspoons dried oregano
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
1 dash red pepper
1 dash black pepper
Directions:
In cast iron skillet on medium heat add olive oil, dried oregano, and garlic (crushed in a garlic press). Saute until garlic turns slightly brown. Add green beans, snapped in half and toss, stir, flip and mix up until they are slightly tender.
Squeeze on lemon juice and sprinkle on pepper. Serve hot right from skillet!
